SBWR & Me
My name is Maimouna Toliver and I’ve been working in the ‘aid/humanitarian/development’ sector as a Gender Advisor for 15+ years.
I was compelled to create ‘Still, Black Womxn Rise’ because I was sick and tired of witnessing the racism experienced by Black people in the sector and, in particular, the sexist racism experienced by Black womxn—myself included.
SBWR is about speaking and amplifying the stories of Black womxn in the ‘aid/humanitarian/development'. The spirit of SBWR is unfiltered, uncensored, unapologetic, and un-fucking-compromising—check out the SBWR Podcast episodes for yourself!

I'm on a mission to facilitate a movement of Black womxn working in solidarity to challenge the sector.

My (unofficial) Co-Host, Billie

Every now and then, Billie will make an unsolicited appearance while I'm recording an episode (sigh). Since I can't edit her out, I figure I might as well make her a part of my creation process!
